Borosilicate Glass Water Cooker

NewImageOK, I fully admit the words "Borosilicate Glass Water Cooker" mean nothing to me. I just think it looks good. About:

Holding a good one-and-a-half litres, this beautifully-designed teapot first boils the water for you (the gently domed base ensures that the glass can’t crack when heated on a stove). Then simply fill the sieve with your favourite tea and place it in the boiling water: keep it warm on stove or cooker – no fussy tea warmer with candles needed!

Pools Collection :: Fleet

Fleet poolcollection 01

The Pools Collection from Fleet is a complete ceramic tableware series consisting of mix-n-match vessels and lids that can be used for a variety of purposes: vases, soup bowls, pencil holders, serving dishes, you name it!  I'm especially fond of the idea of combining the spotted lid with one of the taller vessels as a vase--what's your favorite combination?

Sole Bicycles

sole bicyclesI'm love a good looking bike and after an unfortunate encounter between my Trek District and a car I have been on the prowl for an inexpensive replacement. I first saw Sole Bicycles on Fab.com a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love. The look is spot on, with several different color combinations to choose from, and the price, AMAZING. Sole was kind enough to send me a bike to review, and while the weather has been a bit nippy lately, I have a good chance to put some miles in.

First, the bikes ship mostly assembled with just a bit of wrenching needed to get it all put together. The components were noticeably lower quality when compared to my District, but at 1/3 the price that is to be expected. The frame certainly looks and feels well made, so you always have the option of upgrading later. The bike comes set up as a fixed gear, but it is a flip flop rear wheel so you can easily turn it around for some single speed free wheeling if you want.  The bike only comes with a front break which seems adequate, especially when riding it fixed.

Overall I'm very happy with the bike, especially for my intended use (bar hopping). If you are looking for a series commuter and budget isn't a concern, it may be worth it to look at some higher end brands. For the casual rider or budget shopper, you can't beat the Sole.

Pantone Hotel

PantoneHotel 01Pantone housewares (ornamentstins, and mugs--oh my!) have been hot items for a while now, but did you know that there is an actual Pantone hotel??  For real.  It's in Belgium.  And it's full of colorful, Pantone-y goodness.  I'm not usually a "hang out in hotel lobbies" kind of person, but I might make an exception in this case.  Also, can you imagine what their gift shop is like?  Pantone heaven, most likely.  Check out more here.

More pics after the jump!

Loop 3D wood chair

loop 3d woodI'm a big big fan of bent plywood, especially for chairs. I've seen a lot of good ones too, but I don't think I have ever seen one with as compound curves as impressive as this Loop 3D Wood chair. According to the website, all this magic is accomplished by "...special technology where the multilayer pre-treated 3D wood is bent to form a double curvature without breaking."

However they do it, it's hot.

Kate Banazi :: Shop Closing Sale

KateBanazi

I'm both thrilled and saddened that my favorite print maker is closing up her Etsy shop.  Thrilled because Kate's talents are in such high demand that she no longer has the time to keep this shop open.  She's too busy totally kicking butt at life and spreading her uniquely colorful and witty vision across the globe.  And saddened because, well, because it's closing!  Of course, this means DEEP DISCOUNTS (said in a booming radio voice) for you and yours!  From now until the end of the year all item's in Kate's Etsy shop will be 50% off.  That means you can snag an original, limited edition screen print for as little as $7 or at the most around $30.  I know.  That IS crazy.
So, check out her shop to see all her available prints!
Meanwhile, a looky loo at her portfolio should send you on into the weekend with an extra bounce in your step.  Enjoy!

Ceramic French Press

cafe style ceramic french pressI've been looking for a good french press for a long time now, and last week I was absolutely delighted when a picture of these Ceramic Cafe´ Style Coffee / Tea presses from Golden Calf arrived in my inbox. I'm absolutely in love with them, especially the turquoise one in front. Lucky for me Maxwell Silver has had the turquoise and mandarin in stock, but if you are wanting another color you need to do some searching. For Life Design has red and white (also available through amazon) but I haven't found any of the other colors available online.  Does anyone have any experience with these french presses? Do you have a favorite french press? Ceramic Cafe´ Style Coffee / Tea presses $36

Check out the french press for one too!

For example, I am now pretty sure that my life can not be complete without having at least one vintage Polish movie poster in my house. Thanks a lot eyeseaposters. Thanks a lot.
