Jane Foster may live in the UK, but she knows a thing or two about Scandinavian design. She has an amazing collection of original art work on her etsy shop, as well as some delightful dolls and textiles that she makes with vintage fabrics. I've even made a mental bookmark to check out her Christmas stockings after Thanksgiving. They are pretty amazing.

Ben Kafton is a local artist that I have been following for some time. I first saw his work at Craft Lake City last year and I really love his architectural style. He sent me a photo this week of some of his recent work, as well as a link to his Etsy shop where he has some prints for sale. More after the jump.

At first glance I thought it was a nice scandinavian throw, but a quick read reveals it's actually a traditional Turkish Peshtemal, which is a bath towel. I've actually had a chance to use one of these before, and I can attest that the first time was life changing. Did I mention what a classy alternative these are to a traditional bath towel?

I came across these fantastic danish cast iron skillets and pans on Etsy today and I'm seriously tempted to pick up all three of them. Made by Copco they are all cast iron with white enamel, and are sure to last for years and years to come. A quick google search turned up the fact that Copco is still around, but unfortunately it doesn't look like they are doing enamel cookware anymore. Priced between $40 and $68 each, these vintage pieces seem like a screaming deal to me.

We posted about Best Made's designer axes a while back, but it seems they've been hard at work expanding their line to include all kinds of items, from extension cords and now first aid kits! They claim this kit was specifically designed for "woodsmen and loggers", but we're pretty sure any appreciator of good design will love it. It's an indispensable, life-saving tool that'll treat your wounds just as well as it treats your perfectly-planned decor! What more could you want?
I keep seeing these painted antlers from Cassandra Smith and I love each one more than the last one. Apparently I'm not the only one either, as it seems her Etsy shop is almost always out of stock.

Ok, maybe not new as much as new to me.
I was clicking through page after page of uninspiring stools at More Bar Stools dot Com looking for something cheap and decent today. While I was largely unsuccessful except for perhaps this and this, I did stumble across an Offi stool, which reminded me to check in with one of my old favorite companies. Seems like they have been busy, and have some new to me pieces that they released earlier this spring. The Big Rib, the Trundle Desk, and the Nester Boxes are all designed by Eric Pfeiffer and are available online at your favorite retailer.
Checking out these new posters for Design Philadelphia, I could help but feel a little nostalgic for last year's event (blogged here and here). It looks like the 6th year of this design celebration is in good hands, though, with the guys at Nom Now. The collective includes talented designers Mike Smith, Matt Goold, Nick Kulick, and Mike Smyjewski, who were tasked with creating this year's promo posters. I'd say they did a pretty stellar job! The Par Salt and Pepper shakers from Materia is another shinning example of beauty coming from a simple design and an honest material pallet. I really like the idea of a glass salt and pepper shaker and the cork base compliments it very well. Unfortunately I'm not sure if these are sold in the US, but I've sent an email inquiring about purchasing and I'll let everyone know what I find out.
It looks like modern furniture maker Blu Dot has expanded its offerings to include a new line of wool and cotton rugs! The stand out player here is definitely the Last Newspaper rug: a unique flooring option made from recycled newspaper woven into cotton. Other series include shaggy Cush and woven Dash rugs. Oh la la. I absolutely love these Giclee prints by West Yorkshire based Dig The Earth. I'm sure some of it is because it is slightly reminiscent of the Alexander Girard Feathers fabric that I am absolutely obsessed with. That, and it's just amazing.

A quick update on the Limpet Coat Hooks I posted about last month. It looks like they received enough votes on made.com and they are now officially going into production. You get a set of 6 multicolored hooks for £29. In the meantime, designer Kirsty Whyte is freelancing in Shanghai until mid October. I hope to see more great products of hers going into production.
