Hexag

NewImage

I've mentioned before my mild obsession with tables that feature interesting legs. The Hexag table uses a simple yet ingenious system of a powder coated metal leg that clips onto an American Walnut veneered top. The result is fantastic, and surprisingly affordable.

Vertical 2012

NewImageI'm absolutely shocked that another year has quietly slipped by me. WIth 2012 looming over me, that can only mean one thing. I need a new calendar. Being a fan of calendars that think outside the box, I have to say I'm quit fond of MAKE Collaborations new calendar, Vertical. According to MAKE, they "kept the idea of the Vertical simple and functional with an added hint of sex panther. By choosing a vertical timeline, as opposed to the traditional serpentine approach, it kept our calendar easy to read, and downright fun to look at."

Check out the photo's for some nice thoughtful details. (hello magnetic thumb tack!)

Unihook :: Pat Kim

Unihook patkim 01

These coat hooks from Pat Kim remind me of those old school bike hooks you screw into the wall (anyone? anyone?), except in splashy colors of course!  This wall hook only requires a single nail, though, and holds up to an impressive 30 pounds.  Available in pink or purple and your choice of brass or aluminum.

Best Made :: Maple Syrup

BestMade maplesyrupOh, Best Made. You do it to me every time.  From beautifully-designed first aid kits to lamp cords and, of course, those sexy axes, there isn't a thing they can do wrong.  This gorgeous bottle of certified organic, pure US grade A, medium amber maple syrup is proof of that.  In a word: YUM.

P.S. This maple syrup comes from North Family Farms, a 60-year-old New Hampshire-based family farm that harvests their syrup using renewable energy, bio diesel, and sustainably harvested firewood.  This particular batch is made specifically for Best Made!

Miss Yesterday

NewImageI love a good wooden toy, especially an interactive one. I recently picked up one of these Transformobile bulldozers from GRM sponsor Miss Yesterday and I have to say it's an absolute hit. It's a nice mix of wood and plastic, and it is all held together with embedded magnets. To make things even cooler, the magnets are set up in a way that lets certain parts move in set increments. That means whatever position you put the bucket in, it stays there.

Miss Yesterday is not just about the kids toys though. I also picked up a fantastic handmade leather satchel for my girlfriend. The quality is great, and it's one of those pieces that you just know is going to get better and better with age. Available in yellow, blue or green, and in a 11" or 14" size.

Canvas Laundry Bag

NewImageMaybe if I had a laundry bag that looked as good as this one, I would do laundry more often.  Maybe.

This laundry basket is made of linen canvas, after sizing process handle. The linen canvas fabric is more pretty and strong. You can used for clothes, socks, towels, shoes and other things as toys ... The Box family have laundry basket, sorting box, hanging bag and organizer bag.

Modern Christmas Decor :: West Elm

Modernchristmas westelmI love these minimal Christmas decorations, especially that funny little santa guy!  Each of these lacquered wood pieces is on sale right now from West Elm--but WAIT!  Have you seen this modern DIY nutcracker our buddy Chris at Curbly made??  It looks just like the white West Elm one and is a fraction of the cost.  Check it out.  Make it.  But also pick up one of those weird santas.

lililite

NewImageRemember books? Those things with all the pieces of paper with words on them. Word on the street is that people are still reading them. I know I've spent a few nights reading in bed lately. For like minded bed readers, may I introduce you to lililite. Besides being a handsome bookshelf/light, it's also an ingenious bookmark. Leaving an open book on top keeps the light turned off, pick it up, and you've got light.

"Fashioned by" was formed in 2011 as a collaboration between Farrah Sit and Dana D'Amico who met in 2005 and together designed for Calvin Klein Home. Rooted in a shared design philosophy and common aesthetic, Farrah and Dana have created a collection reflecting honesty to materials and a timeless, minimalistic beauty.

What I love about the collection most is the thoughtful materials used. The porcelain hanging pots come with a vegetable tanned leather strap and antique brass fastener. The desk items have a similarly strong set of materials. Leather, walnut, ash, brass, porcelain, you just can't go wrong.
