OK people, I'm looking for some opinions. Headboards. Yay or nay?

I honestly have never really been a fan of them, and besides the MANDAL headboard from Ikea ($149) I can't think of a good looking one. I want to hear from you. Do you have one? Do you like them? Do they serve a purpose? I can see the appeal of ones with integrated storage, or clever lighting like this one from moreheadboards.com, but I've got to admit I'm coming up short on finding any sort of inspiring photo's.
