I'm honestly not the type that sleeps with a glass of water at the side of my bed, but it I was I would have my eye on this bedside decanter. It's made of 100% post consumer recycled glass so it's good for the environment, and it's simple yet functional design is goo for the eyes. The price is a very reasonable $12. If only it would fit in a stocking.
I'm not feeling in the way back when mood today. Maybe it's the horrible cold I have getting me down. In the meantime I present you with "Bodies in Urban Spaces". A wonderful collection of people interacting with their urban environments. Enjoy the photo's while I go chase my cold away with a big bowl of Pho.
On my obsession chart, tea towels are right up there with felt and bird feeders. Fortunately, cool tea towels can be had in abundance! My current faves are the flora-loving designs from Portland-based MakeLike Design. Each tea towel is hand-printed on 100% European linen using water-based inks. There are loads of different designs, so check them all out here.
Each page of this limited edition wall calendar is printed by hand by a different letterpress artist in collaboration with the Genesee Center for the Arts and Education in Rochester, New York. The sales of these calendars go towards supporting the non-profit center, which provides valuable resources to area print artists as well as education. Not a bad cause, in my opinion. To learn more about these calendars, which feature the work of such artists as Rachael Hetzel of Pistachio Press and Amy Rau of greengirlpress, or to purchase your own, click here.
This may be the handiest thing you could possibly have in your kitchen (minus your appliances and tools and whatnot). What's more, it looks good to boot! The Kitchen Conversions series from Sweet Fine Day is available in a multitude of colors, as a poster or tea towel. This would make a fabulous gift for the modern chef in your life!
Even though it's not even December yet winter has officially set in here in Utah. That means two things. #1 Time to dust off your snowboard/ski's. #2 It's officially soup season. If you are looking for just the right vessel for your favorite chowder or bisque then check out these delightful Hamia Bowls from Sweden. Available in light blue, black, or white.
I'm a big fan of cheese. Maybe it's because my parents make fabulous raw cows milk cheeses, or maybe just because I grew up in cheese country. Either way, when serving up your favorite cheese (Gruyere anyone?) you've got to have something to put it on. This cheese board from Sagaform doubles as a chopping board and serving tray. The combination of the solid oak and glass looks fantastic, and the $24 price makes my wallet happy.
James (Jim) Flora is best-known for his wild jazz and classical album covers for Columbia Records (late 1940s) and RCA Victor (1950s). He authored and illustrated 17 popular children's books and flourished for decades as a magazine illustrator. Few realize, however, that Flora (1914-1998) was also a prolific fine artist with a devilish sense of humor and a flair for juxtaposing playfulness, absurdity and violence.
Cute β and deadly.
Head over to JimFlora.com to check out his amazing portfolio of work. You can ever purchase reprints of his art starting at $25.
Triangles are a huge trend in design and home decor right now and I'll openly admit that I've jumped on this particular band wagon just a bit. So, when I spotted this pillow from French designer Rose Patate, I got pretty excited. The facing side is a screen printed bird on raw linen, but the back is where the triangle party is. Either side would look great facing out, but I think you know which one gets my vote!
Oh, the ubiquitous metal folding chair. We all know it. Now, it's re-imagined in five mod colors. Perfect to have on hand when you need some extra seating - and at $29, why not? Available in white, black, yellow, orange, and turquoise.
Made in Italy? Check. Sleek white minimalist design? Check. Water resistant? Check. Priced under $50? Double check. The O Clock watch manages to look great, be functional and cost less than dinner and a movie for two. I guess you know where to find me on date night ... at home admiring my new watch.
As you may already know, we are big fans of monsters at our house. This great kids storage concept is a winner of the 2010 IDEA Design award. Not only is it a place to store toys, but it is also a ride on toy as well. Unfortunately no word on wether it will go into production or not.

Looking through their portfolio, I'd have to say my favorite piece is the Boomer Bench. I love the subtle divots and tapered legs aka pure sexiness! If you're in the market for some custom built furniture, don't pass up Phloem Studio: their pieces are built to last!

This one goes out to all my fellow dog lovers! Show off your puppy pride with one of these fun prints from the Mod-Dog Shop. Choose from one of the many breed-specific prints, or commision a custom print created from one of your own photos. Either option is available in 18 bold colors, with or without framing.
Quick Poll: What breed is your canine friend?
(I'll play, too. Our pup Wrigley is a well-mustachioed Miniature Schnauzer!)
If they keep making cool toys like this, I'm going to have to do something drastic... like start having kids.
About: Tours of the Eames House and Studio require a sizable donation to the Eames Foundation, but you can bring the Case Study No. 8 house to the convenience of your coffee table or kids playroom for less cash than dinner for two at the local upscale chain restaurant. Itβs a bargain when you consider that each set of 36 replenishable Michigan-grown basswood blocks represents 29 separate hand-pulled screen passes. In true Eames spirit, your kids can create a ligneous yard sale on your living room rug while you're in deep conversation with your guests, then build this living landmark to demonstrate how you are properly introducing them to important bits of culture.
These knife blocks are sexy, minimal, and made from that favorite of renewable resources: bamboo! Due to their slotless design, each block can hold an assortment of different sized knives, while the removable bamboo skewers inside provide a more hygienic alternative to traditional knife blocks. Small and Large sizes available in white, black, red, and orange. Each knife block is hand-crafted by fair trade artisans in Vietnam.
I don't have a lot of detail on this home, but enough to make me very very interested and jealous of whoever becomes the new owner. Located in Salt Lake City area, this mid century modern home isn't even listed on the MLS yet, but is available for sale. Built in 1976 It is 3 to 4 stories hight with lots of large windows with a valley view and a detached two car garage. The home has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is 2,490 square feet. Perhaps one of my favorite parts about the home is the amazing .60 acre lot that it sits on. Ohh, and the price you say? How does 279K sound. Yeah, it's that good.
Because it' not list you need to contact Mony Ty if you'd like more information. His email is modernhomes (at) live.com or you can call him at 801-550-7430. Tell him GRM sent you! Oh and if you buy it, you have to invite me over for dinner.
I'm typically not a huge fan of the "rustic modern" look. At first glance that is how I pegged the Moxo Stool, but there is enough scandinavian influence that I am actually quite drawn to it. It's simple, made in Brazil out of ipe wood, and it wants to live in my home.
Ok, I'll be the first to admit that I have absolutely no need for a metal matchbox cover. That being said, if I ever did, this white matchbox cover with see-through motive from 1936 "Tandstickspojken" would be my first choice. Available in white or black.
