Rig Bar Stool :: CB2

RigBarstool cb2Ahhh, it's my favorite time of year again!  CB2 just unveiled a whole bunch of new products this week, including this mango wood and powder-coated iron number.  The height is adjustable to allow for use as a counter or bar stool.  In a perfect world, I'd love to see it available in more colors, but until then you can snatch it up in a bright, glossy red.

Tea Kettle by NORM Architects

NORM Architect Tea Kettle

I know it's hard to even thing about hot drinks when temperatures are creeping into the triple digits, but this Tea Kettle by NORM Architects is just to sexy to pass up. The clear glass design has equal parts scandinavian and asian flare to it. The built in stainless steel tea ball is attached with a silicone tether and sits up out of the way when it's all done brewing. Maybe we can harness some of that sun to make sun tea?

Recycled Brooklyn Table

recycled brooklyn tableI'm really liking the raw modern simplicity of this table from Recycled Brooklyn.  Made of scrap wood and angle iron, the table is finished of with a handsome pair of hairpin legs. The result is a simple, honest table. Recycled Brooklyn can do custom sizes if you have a particular spot in mind you are buying for, or if you are handy I'm thinking this would make a pretty easy DIY project.

Columbus Indiana

I mentioned a while ago my recent trip to Colombus Indiana to check out the Miller House as well as all the other fantastic architecture. The weekend before I was there CBS was filming for this Sunday morning edition that featured Columbus. It does a decent job of showcasing some of the greatness of the little town. If you want the real day to day scoop however, make sure you follow my friends blogs Atomic Indy.

Anyone want to move to Columbus with me?

Giddyup Stool

Giddyup StoolPowder coated steel combined with wood is like strawberries dipped in sour cream and brown sugar, absolutely delectable. When you add the option of Marimekko fabric (with the stool, not the strawberries) you have a nearly infallible combination.  The Giddyup Stool is just such a combination. It's available in a number of different colors, and with a variety of wood, fabric or even leather seat options. All hand made in Portland Oregon by Quartertwenty.

Apló Table

Apló TableI know my list of design obsessions is getting pretty long these days, but obsessed is the only word that really describes how I feel about people pairing white Corian with oak.  Which is why I was very excited to see this project by UK based MGNG. Details are few and far between, but the execution is absolutely lovely. Check out some of the detailed pictures after the jump. The leg-to-table joint is to die for.

Willoughby MCM inspired TV stand

S10woven60inWhat do you do when you are an industrial designer with a love for affordable MCM style, and you are looking for an entertainment center? Design one, that's what. And that's exactly what Luke Zei did.

Since I purchased a LCD TV I have noticed the absence of MCM styled flat screen TV stand/ entertainment centers (and affordable ones). I tried re-purposing a credenza from the 50's but it was too tall. So I basically convinced myself there was a market and started off sketching. I drew influence from a some Edward Wormley and Jens Risom pieces.

The end result is this Willoughby TV stand which comes in a 42" or 60" size. Pricing is very affordable at $239 and $259 respectivley.

Naif Tasarim chairs

naif tasarim chair

I love chairs. Really really love them. I could go on for hours as to why I am so fascinated about them, but I'll spare you all. I will however share one of the first things that catches my eye on a good chair, and that's a strong side profile. On that front Turkish design group Naif Tasarim is bang on with their mono chair shown above. The fact that it comes in a whole range of great colors is just icing on the cake.
