Working Class Studio: Outdoor Pillows
The reality of sunshine and rainbows is right around the corner and has me dreaming of outdoor living spaces. In this imaginary world wherein I actually have an outdoor area large enough to own outdoor furniture and thus accessorize said furniture, I own pillows like this. And I have a pool… and a million dollars. And swanky friends who lounge around drinking martinis and talk about politics. OK, maybe not that last one.
About:
Designed by Andrea Gray (M.F.A. candidate, fibers, SCAD) and Leah Jewer (M.F.A., graphic design, SCAD), these delightful pillows are printed on a durable, machine-washable polyester sateen. The cases are filled with an outdoor-grade 18-inch polyester insert and feature a coordinating solid back. Available in three designs and three colors–green, brown and black/white. Dimensions: 18″ x 18″
Outdoor Pillows by Working Class Studio available from shopSCAD: $30
Angela Adams Pillows
I have a mild obsession with Angela Adams, so it’s exciting to see her designs in a (relatively) more affordable textile form. I’ve been saving up for one of her wool rugs, but for now I may have to just pick up a pillow or two. These linen pillows are hand-printed and sewn in Maine. Available in two sizes: 12×22 and 18×18.
Thomas Paul Pillows

If you are a fan of Thomas Paul I suggest you hustle on over to Gilt. They currently have a nice little selection of pillows on sale for $22. I think that’s the cheapest I’ve ever seen a Thomas Paul pillow. If you are not already a member, you can click the link below to sign up. Hurry before they are all gone!
Envelop

I only recently discovered Envelop, a print-on-demand textile shop where designers can “create, promote and sell high quality cotton items to textile lovers worldwide”. The idea is brilliant and the designs absolutely unique. They have an incredible collection of textiles, from pillow covers to oven mitts. You can also browse by designer if you have a favorite (mine is KEROZEN – his stuff is amazing). So, go check it out and see for yourself! I’d love to hear what some of your favorite designs (or designers) are!
Bantie fabrics and wallpaper

I love the simple yet bold scandinavian designs, and Bantie has some wonderful ones.
The Swedish company Bantie was founded in 2007 by Ulrika Gyllstad och Wilhelmina Wiese. The name comes from Ulrika’s favourite aunt Bantie who used to have a shop selling exquisite fabrics and exclusive lingerie.
For those handy with a sewing machine, the Scandinavian design center has cotton satin fabric available starting at just over $60 a meter. While that may not be cheap, it could be worth it if you are looking for just the right fabric. For those less handy in the sewing dept, cushion covers are available starting at $65.
Available from Scandinavian Design Center $65 – $85.
New from Inhabit

I’ve admitted before that I am a big BIG fan of Charles and Ray Eames. Unfortunately for me I have never been able to save up for any of the Eames pieces I really want. While I’m counting my pennies, maybe I can get a little bit of my Eames fix with these new pillows and wall prints from Inhabit. Inhabit has a whole bunch of new prints and pillows, many of which have iconic silhouettes of Eames chairs and other classic Mid Century Modern pieces on them. To make things even sweeter, everything from Inhabit is currently 10% off, making it a little bit more affordable. What’s your favorite new thing from Inhabit?

Spin Spin

Taking inspiration from typography, nature, and abstract form, Spin Spin creates screen printed and hand sewn goodies like these tea towels and elephants. Each elephant is made from a unique combination of different materials, including some of Spin Spin’s own limited edition, screen printed fabrics. These fabrics (and tea towels) are designed and printed in Melbourne using water based, eco friendly inks. Check out more great designs in the Spin Spin shop!
Enhabiten

I will never, ever, ever get over the amount of talent that is bursting out of Etsy. It blows my mind, really. With so many incredible shops, it’s sometimes hard to pick who or what to feature! This time around, though, the handmade pillows by Liane of Enhabiten were an obvious choice. Aside from the great design and craftsmanship, I was really impressed with her earth friendly efforts – all materials used are organic, sustainably grown and/or vintage.
MMD opened and closed sale

SLC local store Modern Materials Design has gone through a lot of changes over the years. They started out as a brick and mortar store in Sugarhouse, then moved down the road on highland, and eventually closed shop to go online only. Over the last year they have had some great warehouse sales, and in the past couple months they even opened up another retail location in the Brickyard area. Unfortunately things aren’t working out for them there and they are closing up shop, which means a huge sale. There are ton’s of great deals to be had so go check it out before they are gone again. Prices are 25%-85% off, all the details and pictures after the jump.
Nena Von Pillows

I never cease to be amazed by the talent that some people have. Etsy seems to have plenty of those talented people, and Nena Von is one of them. Nena makes wonderful decorative pillow covers using amazing Designer fabric such as, Romo, Osborne & Little, Fabricut, Ralph Lauren, Veranda, Michael Levine, Decorator’s walk and many others. All her pillows covers look very high quality and include an envelope insert on the back which makes it easy to remove for cleaning. Prices are very reasonable with most covers running between $20 – $30 depending on the fabric. To make the deal even sweeter Nena has offered a 15% discount to all GRM readers.
