Form 3 DeCarli House

04Mar10

I have blogged about Form 3 before. Based out of Tomales California they design and build amazing homes and custom furniture. They just finished up a recent project that I thought was worth sharing. The home shown above is new construction, but they were able to reclaim 80% of the wood from the old home.

The interior is full of custom furniture in typical Form 3 style. I really love the contrast of concrete and wood that they use in a lot of their projects. This whole home was built for around $200 a square foot, which is not cheap but by California standards it’s not bad at all. More photo’s after the jump.

Way back when: The Aluminium Chair

26Feb10

This Fridays “Way back when” is a film by Eames Demetrios on the history and the production of Charles & Ray Eames’ famous Aluminium Chair. I’m always fascinated to watch the actual design and manufacturing of furniture, and this video doesn’t disappoint.

Chair Cards from Nouveau Designs

Technically, these are folded greeting cards, but I think they’d look lovely in a simple frame and hung as prints! Drawn digitally and printed on 100% recycled, heavy weight card stock.

Reader Question: Junior Panton Chairs

22Feb10

I received this reader question from Michelle last week, and figured the best way to get some quality advice was to let the rest of our readers answer the question. So here it is;

I have the kids Junior Panton chairs and would love some feedback on what table the ‘design inclined’ out there would team the chairs with. Seeking a working table. Somthing sizable enough to sit and draw at, yet looks fabulous with the Panton.

Many thanks
Michelle

Mid Century Sofa

01Feb10

Furniture from Urban Outfitters seems too good to be true. Take this “Mid Century Sofa” for example. Great simple classic style and priced at a mere $480. The downside? It seems like any reviews I’ve read in the past have been pretty unfavorable as to the quality of the furniture. Also, I’m always sketched out by the thought of buying furniture that is only available online.
Anyone have any feedback about this sofa, or furniture from Urban outfitters in general?

Mid Century Sofa available from Urban Outfitters for $480.

I wish I had the skills to reupholster mid-century inspired furniture, but I don’t. Luckily there are people like Lynne and Julia from L + J Industries that have the gift. These twin sisters based out of Houston rework vintage furniture and create one of a kind new furniture as well. Check out their Etsy shop to see some of the great pieces they currently have for sale.

Available from L + J Industries Etsy shop.
