Firenze Sofa

I spotted the Firenze Sofa in the most recent Chiasso catalog, and wasn’t sure what to make of it. Part of me kind of likes it, part of me wants to give it a kick in the face. I think it’s the subtle Eames Lounger meets Barcelona Couch combo that gives me such a strange response. This melding seems a bit more apparent in the chair version. Anyway, about the sofa. The curved walnut arms are removable in case you get bored and what to spice things up. It also fully reclines to accommodate overnight guests or sudden bouts of sleepiness. Oh, and it’s made of tufted, white leatherette. Overall it’s a nice looking sofa, even if it gives me a curious feeling. Thoughts?

i’m with you there creede.
at first glance, it gives you an awkward feeling the more i look at it, the more i hate it. it actually looks nicer without the curved walnut arms. i’ll pass on this one.
Oh I think I would like to kick it in the face. Um where exactly is it’s face?
Haha Tyler! I imagine you could find the face under one of those bolster pillows. Anyway, I’ve given it more thought and have decided that with the arms in place, I don’t like it at all. It’s much too contrived. Without the arms, it’s fine, but nothing special. Perhaps better suited for a guest room/music room rather than the main living area. That said, I’ve seen similar armless, fold down sofas that I like a lot more.
Without the arms, it looks like an ordinary sofa bed. Maybe giving it the armrest and the two bolster pillow on the sides, made it overdone, or the combination of the three materials: Chrome Metal, leather and wood. It feels like the sofa is staring at you and asking, ” Uh, how do I look? Does the colors compliment well?”
