Cube Steam Humidifier

We’ve been on the hunt for a good looking modern humidifier for a long time. Last year we finally bought the Air-O-Swiss which was lovingly dubbed “Eva” (from Wall-E”) by our 2 year old son. While we were happy with it, we ended up replacing our furnace and installing a whole house humidifier. The whole house humidifier is expensive but oh so convenient.

This year it looks like there is one more option when it comes to stylish humidifiers. The Cube steam humidifier like most other stylish humidifiers comes from Japan. WIth a 2.6 L tank and 8 hour capacity it sounds fairly equivilient to our Air-O-Swiss, minus the easy pour filing. Priced at $108 it seems like a good price for a good looking humidifier.

Available from Japan Trend shop for $108.

I remember talking about this last year, how cool that you got the whole house humidifier! We would like to install one but haven’t had time to look into it. I would love to hear details about what kind you chose and how the install went. Did you do it yourself or have a pro come in? How expensive are we talking? (feel free to email me if that’s easier)

As far as this cube humidifier goes, I think I still like the looks of “EVA” better :)

    Jose,

That’s the one that started my obsession with stylish humidifiers.

    April,

I think it was around $700 installed. We were getting a new high efficiency furnace and it was the model the recommended. It hooks into the main waterline and pumps steam into the hot air coming out of the furnace. The nice thing is that it does the whole house and you only have to do annual maintenance. Plus it makes our home way more humid than a humidifier could. I think I have it set to close to 50% humidity right now. Everyones skin and lips thank me for it. The one down side is it completely fogs up our old single pane windows. We’ll be upgrading all of them to double pane over the next year hopefully.

Long story short. I would recommend it if you have the funds. The $700 was easier to swallow when it was coupled with several thousand dollars of furnace/AC stuff.

Thanks for the details! This sounds like something that will be better left until we upgrade our furnace, hopefully in the next year or two (after we also replace our single-pane windows). What an adventure old houses are!
