Trying on a new door

If you remember my video where I tore all the siding off the front of my house last month, you will remember that my front door is pretty drab. My friend is trying out a couple new door designs that he has and asked if he could come put one on my house to see what it would look like “in the wild”. I was amazed a what a difference it made on how our house looks! The pictures really don’t do the door justice (especially the bad photoshop work!). The door itself is made of solid core walnut with 1/2″ structural glass. The fit was perfect, it’s just too bad it was only a test and we had to send it home at the end of the day.

While this one was a sort of prototype, he is working on a production model. Pricing should be very affordable, especially when compared to Neoport and all other “Modern” door manufactures. I’d love to know what people think of the door, do you love it, hate it, what would you change about it?

If you want any more info about it, feel free to drop me a line via the contact form.

Love it. You should get it when it is produced.

First of all, it’s gorgeous. As long as there was an option for a privacy type glass instead of see-through, I’d be on board.

We have a very private front yard, so the glass isn’t a big deal at all. Carina, would you want like a frosted glass?

It is amazing!!! I wouldn’t change a thing about it as long as their was a privacy option for doors that were more visible.

Wow, that is cool! Love it.

I love the floating wood panel. I think that this design would also make great cabinet doors.

Frosted would be great, or really anything that the designer picked that they felt harmonized with the design but that obscured the inhabitants/contents of our home a little more. We’re looking at replacing our double front door and because of the door’s placement, we’d want something with a privacy option. The design is gorgeous.

Beautiful door. I’d love one with a black stain.

Oh, and I agree with Carina on the frosted glass option.

i’d love to see an ambered colored infill option, as our 1952 ranch is still home to its original solid wood door (sadly faded and weathered) with two vertical panes of amber colored infill glass. the cozy glow is unmatched and its surprisingly less see-through than normal clear glass.

Frosted with a strip of non-frosted at about eye level could be really neat looking too.

I would love to get one of these when they become available. I as well would suggest privacy glass.

Great feedback everyone. It sounds like to most people some sort of privacy glass is a big deal.

If anyone is interested in purchasing, feel free to drop me a line. While they are not in full production right now, it’s still easy enough to build some custom orders. Just use the contact form (http://grassrootsmodern.com/contact-2/) to send me a note.
