Palm Springs Modern

31Jul09

Last weekend we were down in Palm Springs for our third Fiesta Movement mission. Ironically we went down there looking for some Eichler homes only to find that Eichler never did any developments there. It was still an amazing trip though, we stayed at the beautiful Chase Hotel and saw plenty of gorgeous MCM homes. Most of the residential development in the 50’s was done by the Alexander construction company, and you can read about it here.

I have a short video about Donald Wexler, architect of the Alexander homes on my blog. I can’t wait to see the documentary Journeyman Architect

Thanks for the tour! I just love Palm Springs, except for the heat. I dream of having a 2nd home there one day, a beautiful modern with that gorgeous mountain behind. Maybe in my old age, who knows?

Thank you for putting together this video and raising awareness of Palm Springs’ amazing collection of mid-century modern architecture.

You can rent a mid-century modern home or stay at one of the boutique hotels such as the Chase featured in this video. A complete listing is available at http://www.VisitPalmSpringsInns.com

Next time you’re in town, if you want to go look at mid-century properties that are currently on the market, I’d be happy to show you around. In addition to homes built by the Alexander Construction Company, we have great examples of homes by Donald Wexler, Albert Frey, William Coday, and those built by Meiselman.

Thanks for the promoting Palm Springs in your blog and video!

Great video. What street was that you were driving down? I’d love to see some first hand. Thanks.
