Way Back When: Philip Johnson interview

12Jun09

While the awesome hair of interviewer Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel put this clip in the 80’s the work of Philip Johnson goes much further back. His most notable “modern” project was the glass house built in 1949. The interview is a little dry but if you are interested it is quite fascinating.
Please share you thoughts on architecture, 80’s hair and funky glasses in the comments.

MPLS representing at 20 sec in. The IDS tower looks quite lonely compared to the current MPLS skyline.

I love this interview..thanks for posting it. I love the commentary regarding school- and how it will ruin one. Being a huge fan of Mondrian, I love the dependence art and architecture have on one another…and I love Johnson’s glasses. Lots of love going on.
