Modernic (aka Knock-offs) fiberglass - there is a reason DWR sells plastic chairs, and not the carcinogen, bad for the environment, fiberglass. Let's bring the BigMac back in the Styrofoam container, it taste better wouldn't you think?

The modernica chairs are way cooler than the DWR. I like the hard fiberglass shell. It holds up better with wear, and is more solid feeling. And yes, I agree, it feel more authentic to the original.

I love that table. I've been thinking about buying the dowel based chairs for years now, but now that I see that table that goes with it, I think I'm sold.

Hmm. On the fence about these. I really don't like the plastic version and it seems the sideshell legs are really splayed out compared to the original. The cranky old man in me says if it ain't broke....

I'd rather just go the modernica route. They are more authentic than the HM repros. Using the same machines and such to produce. Odd really.

OMG! Seriously?
Ok this is absolutely great news (especially since I live on South Beach and DWR has an awesome new location on Lincoln Road (ok well not that new for us locals) which is set back by the new Books & Books jsut off the beaten path of the main walk.
I literally just received my shipment from Herman Miller of 3 Eames molded plywood dining chairs in the new orange, red and old school walnut baby! (of course with the wooden legs) & one orginial vintage Eames rocking arm chair. (It is true what they say about the "nursing mom" bonus: I rock my toddler to a sound sleep everynight in it!).
BUT NOW.. you just provided me with enough info for my whole apartment to be loaded with nothing but seating..
Next up: wood dowel base table, as pictured?
Pretty please :)

re:the molded plastic versus the fiberglass -
I've never seen either one in person...does the plastic feel flimsier or too flexible when someone sits on it? I like the stiff, substantial look of the fiberglass--
