I ran across these great shots of some Eichler homes in the San Mateo Highlands area on Flickr. I’d love to live in any of these, wouldn’t you? I just really love all the colors and different materials – truly stunning.

    I love the mix of industrial materials with really cozy and warm textures, especially those bright red I-beams! However, I’ve heard that while Eichler homes are gorgeous, they are a maintenance nightmare that never really stay at the right temperature.

    so, my hubby and i took the kids to disneyland a few weeks ago. turns out there are several eichler communities within minutes. i tried to book an eichler tour, but there wasn’t one the weekend we were there.
    of course, i still had to drive around each of them. and because i am nervy, i weasled my way into not 1, but 2 occupied eichlers. (turns out eichler owners appreciate eichler envy)
    AMAZING!
    the prices on eichlers for sale has plummeted like the rest of so cal. there were a few that were around 650k, which according to an eichler owner i spoke with in the neighborhood, would sell for 1 million in normal times. if only i had 650k sitting around….
