Modern Exterior Doors

17Nov08

200811170743.jpgI have a friend here in Salt Lake City that has the same vision of modern that I do. He thinks that the prices being charged for the majority of stuff are way overpriced. Where we differ is that he actually has the skills and the resources to do something about it. He recently started playing around with making some contemporary doors. In an effort to avoid just copying someone else style, he has been playing around with mounting a 1″ piece of glass perpendicular to the door surface. I took a look at this door last week, and it looks amazing. The one in this photo is actually an interior door, but they also had an exterior door in the works. While talking about exterior doors, we both wondered. What do most people feel is affordable for a modern exterior door? Give us some feedback in the poll below. Also what do you think of the door? Hate it? Love it? Come on we can take it.

For more info about the door, check out modfab.utahmodern.org.

Love it, love it, love it! Well done. And, what is the price????

Love it. I’m actually in the market for an affordable modern exterior door. Adding this to my short list. Shannon walker is another option: http://shannonwalkerdesign.blogspot.com/ . Crestview is just way too out of range.

One thing I think the poll question fails to address is the pre-hung, not pre-hung factor. Will these doors be pre-hung or not? Will they come pre cut for knobs/locks, etc.

Good point on the poll barrett. I updated it to say “prehung”. There are only 23 votes so far, so hopefully it doesn’t skew the results too much.

    I would buy one today…
I have a modern house with a really ugly 7 foot front door and I am planning on replacing it soon. But because it is not a standard size I am worried about how much this is going to cost.
Yeah I also agree that a front door SHOULDN’T cost several thousand dollars. Jeesh!…

Looks like right around $500 is what most people are thinking would be affordable. Sounds about right to me. We paid $600 for our back door at our last house..

How funny that google is serving up ads for Crestview. LOL. I admit though, that whole door o vision thing is pretty sweet.

LOVE the door! Was doing research last year on modern doors and found nothing like it (and this would have been perfect!). Good thing I have another door that needs to be replaced….

That’s a great-looking door! I’m glad now that we haven’t replaced our door yet, maybe we’ll have a chance to get a great modern one instead. As far as the poll goes, for us personally, it would have to be $500 or less.

I’m a big fan of this door!

So the question remains - how do we got one?

love it! have been looking for modern interior doors and these look great. ~$500/each seems reasonable.

Creede- Love the door. You know how we are in need of a new front door. How can we get one or look at some other options from the same guy?
