well, well, a tried and true discussion of pizza, right here in salt lake city. I thought it was difficult to get pizza let alone intelligent conversation here. To let you all know, how the pizza really works in salt lake. First of all NY pizza. True NY pizza is different than what Johns and lombardi's serves. That is napoletana style pizza, a derivitive of italian pizza, ala settebello. Ny style is the large flat foldable stuff, ala este and little italy. To rank... Este is for sure number one. A distant second would have been little italy, but I hear they closed their doors. Third, nevoles. Fourth, well, who gives a shit, the rest is just crap. On to settebello. Settebello is good, but I must say, compared to the pizza i have had in italy and lombardis, johns, grimaldis, it just doesnt compare. And they don't use mozzarella d' buffala, they use grande. Grande cheese is great, the gold standard for NY style, but their fresh mozz, isn't authentic. I know, silly semantics, but truth. I still eat there often for that style, and at este for NY style. Oh, and the pie, and bid daddys, and all that other stuff, isn't worth its weight in feces.

Ginos!

Ug.

You don't deserve a good New York Style Pizza!

If it's New York City Pizza, compare it with John's Pizza.

I've given up finding good pizza in SLC after moving from the village in 99.

Settebello is hands down the best pizza I have had in the United States. I have had lots of pizza in New York and it is its own style, and for that style Este is really good, but I lived in Naples for 7 months and ate LOTs of pizza there. It's where pizza was born and where it is its most perfect. The first time I had a pizza at Settebello I felt transported back to Italy. It's supposed to be thin, and there aren't supposed to be many toppings on it in order to have a true margherita pizza. If you feel like you want some good toppings though, get the Pizza Lasagna or the Ripieno, which is a calzone and is very authentic. All the ingredients are top notch. I'm not affiliated with them, but this probably sounds like an ad. It's just the best pizza to be had for many many miles around.

It's best when it is fresh from the oven, so it never quite tastes the same when you bring it home. We had some for a pizza party and something from Este would have probably been better for that purpose.

Settebello fo sho! I don't know what Jared #7 had, but everything I've eaten there is amazing if you like Italian style pizza. The Pie is great for a big heavy piece of comfort food at it's finest.

I think The Pie is great. Tried Settebello and I didnt understand the hype? It was really expensive for a burnt wafer with no toppings. I guess we all have our favorites.

I love the pizza (and everything else) at Stoneground. Every Sunday they remove the menus and just bring different types of pizzas around to each table and you can eat as much as you'd like.

Stoneground is also one of the most beautiful modern restaurants downtown. Great color tones and concrete work. It's right across from the library, and I highly suggest everyone check it out.

I love Este. I have been eating there pre and post fire. The pizza is great and beat any pizza I ever had in NYC. I was actually quite disappointed with NYC pizza.

If you have never been on Yelp.com you may want to check it out. You can pick up some pretty good information and reviews on resto's, or any other business, from the regular joes who eat there. Check it out.
