You were eleven or twelve when you and I refinished the kitchen floor. And Justin is right, those big belt sanders are difficult. The last few time I sanded our floors I went with ab orbital sander ... much easer. You may want to consider just doing your first pass with the belt, then going back and rent the big orbital for the last couple of passes. We hung sheets in the doorways to slow the spread of dust. It takes about 1/100th of a second to suck the whole sheet into the sander. Also, remember that if you accidently unplug the sander, turn the switch off before plugging it back in ... or you'll be mudding for another week! Experience talking here. Good luck you two!
