Fine Hombuilding Mag and Hardie Board

Albums I207 Modernlover62 Album-2 Album-3 Album-5 Album-6 Fiber-Cement-Tools-1I came across this post at Materialicious yesterday and it reminded me of when we were doing our Hardie Board rainscreen, We had originally bought a chop saw with a hardie blade to do all of our cuts, but it turned out to be a lot more dusty and less accurate than a good pair of power shears like the ones in the picture. Apparently Fine Homebuilding did an entire article on fiber cement tools, and the best way to work with this great affordable material. Unfortunately I don’t have a subscription, so I can’t access the whole article.
Are there any other Fine Homebuilding subscribers out there? Is it worth it?

I subscribe and I think it is definitely worth it. I only get 2 magazines - that and Dwell. I’ll be honest, I barely even read the Dwell copy anymore but I always look forward to FH. If you get an online subscription, you can access all of their old articles as PDFs. It’s a great resource.

I’d have to second the recommendation for a Fine Homebuilding subscription. It’s not that expensive and it’s much faster to research specific topics than shuffling through a collection of old magazines trying to remember what issue had the information you’re interested in. BTW, great work on both your home and your blog, I’m a daily reader.

I was just reading that same article in Fine Homebuilding earlier today at the local library. the SLC Main Library carries it in their periodicals.

The FH article is a great one. You should subscribe when you get the chance.
