Ikea Hack Vanity

This was sent in by a David M a long time reader. He is currently remodeling a mid-century modern home in Renton just south of Seattle. While redoing his bathroom he wanted to put in a vanity similar to the Kohler Purist but didn’t want to spend $1,500. With a little creativity he was able to take this Ikea STOLMEN and make it work as a wall mount vanity. I think you will agree when I say it looks great. The price of the STOLMEN was $80, which makes it a very affordable alternative. He finished it all off with a sink an faucet similar to what we have in our bathroom.

He didn’t want to spend $1800 on a vanity but look at that toilet how much did that thing cost?! I guess the priorities are in the right order. ;-) Just an observation. Looks great.

The priorities are definitely in the right order. The wife is half japanese and needed the fancy japanese toilet seat ($375). It’s pretty awesome, though, I must admit.

Glad you like the hack, Creede. Your site has been a huge inspiration on our remodel and on choosing the house in the first place for that matter. Your 700sf house (before the addition), helped us have faith that we could get by with a 750sf house.

I love this and I’m going to do it in my bathroom too! I looked hard at those stolmens last time I was in IKEA to see if this would work.

My question–WHAT SINK IS THAT? and Where did you get it? Thanks.

MCinDC, Check out this post; http://www.grassrootsmodern.com/2006/06/23/bathroom-sink/ It gives all the details of our, which is exactly the same I think. The cost was around $120. Good luck.

I love this idea! Whatan affordable way to get that expensive modern look. I know what we will be doing with the glass vessel sink we bought. Thanks for the idea!
