Home Hero Fire Extinguisher

I have had several reader write-ins lately about the fabulous Home Hero Fire Extinguisher. This fire extinguisher has all the bells and whistles that you would expect to find in a fire extinguisher plus something you wouldn’t, stylish design. It has a ergonomic shape for easy one handed use, and a modern look that will fit into about any decor. The idea is to create a product that looks nice enough that you can actually leave it in a place that will be easily accessible, not buried in the back of a cupboard underneath your tupperware collection. They also have a 2 in 1 smoke and carbon monoxide detector that connect wirelessly to other Home Hero smoke detectors. This creates a system similar to hard wired smoke detectors where if one goes off, they all go off.

Fire extinguishers are available exclusively at Home Depot for around $30.

The fire extinguisher is a great idea. It looks kind of like a giant pepper grinder I hope the fire alarms can be reset from any unit. It would be maddening to have all the alarms going off while trying to find the one to reset (during a false alarm).

I went to the Hero website and it said that the products weren’t available yet. There was even a form to fill out to get notified when they are. Has anyone actually seen them in HD?

Hello - long time listener, first time caller.

I am all for stylish home products, and the idea of keeping an extinguisher closer to a hazard area is great idea, but… haven’t we all been conditioned to know what a fire extinguisher looks like in an emergency? If I was a guest in your home, I would have no idea to grab the stylish Home Hero as an extinguisher. Educating people of it’s function and use also comes with this new form.

Ger, yes you can silence them all from one unit.

Nicole, I have heard from some people that they have them in their local HD, but it’s not listed on their website, so I guess you can call first or just go look. I heard they are with the smoke detectors in electrical.

Daniel, I agree strangers would probably struggle with these. Hopefully you don’t have any strangers starting fire in your house when you are not around.

I have seen the Home Hero in a local Pennsylvania Home Depot store…and as a former marketing and product management lead in for a major home safety products company I recognize hype when I see and read it….The Home Hero at $24.95 is priced at a 250% of the price of a similarly rated (UL 5B:C rating) extinguisher which is typically approximately $10. If Home Depot was so proud of this product and its efficacy, wouldn’t they have listed the rating on the carton prominantly- as it is for all other fire extinguishers? Instead- it is hidden as part of the products model code- Home Depot does it again- scams the consumer.

where can I find cool recessed fire extinguisher cabinets for a commercial building or does that even exist yet?
