Storytime Rocker
12Sep07
WIth the completion of our addition we have completely exhausted any available funds, and have found ourselves without any furniture. Luckily the one room we did manage to get furnished was our nursery. I previously featured our Ariel crib which we absolutely love, and the other favorite is our Storytime Rocker. We ended up getting an ecru microsuede with light ash legs. Just like the crib, the build quality of the rocker is top notch. It has been getting plenty of use, and it still looks good as new. While it may be hard to fork out that much money (retail is $800) it is worth it in the end. If you are not too picky on color, Sparkability has several colors on sale for $560, which is a heafty discount.Other choices for more affordable modern rockers; the classic Eames shell rocker for $349, or the LILLBERG rocking chair from Ikea for $139.

Looks great - and your little guy looks comfy sitting on it. There is a beautiful rocking chair at By Design for around $300. Its a pale blue microfiber. If I were having another child I’d get it for sure. With my two kids I just had a crappy (but cute) wooden rocking chair. Even though I didn’t love it, I used it all the time. So, in my experience, a rocking chair is something worth spending a little money on, because its something that will get used daily for years to come.
Thanks to you I found the Nurseryworks link. A new crib site we hadn’t found yet! But, YIKES! I guess we are just going to buck up and spend the cash if we want a crib that looks great. Thanks also to Michelle above. I am going to head over to By Design and check out the chair.
You know, I agree the Storytime rocker looks fantastic. We bought the same one with a matching ottoman from Nurseryworks about a year ago but I just can’t get over how *uncomfortable* it is. While very well made, I find the cushions rock hard and unforgiving. I love the clean lines but sacrificing comfort is not worth it. Hopefully, it’s just a matter of really, really, breaking it in.
