Stroller Showdown

We have been looking for the perfect stroller for some time now, and we managed to narrow it down to three top candidates. They are (from left to right) the BOB revolution, the Britax Vigour and the new kid on the block the Micralite Fastfold. The one that is not on the list, but we were very interested in is the Quinny Buzz. It looks like a great one, but I hate to buy something I have never seen, and there are no brick and mortars near me that carry it. Luckily for us, there was one local store that carries all three of these strollers, Buga-Boo Childrens furniture in Park City. This week we took a trip up there to try them all out to see which one was the winner. I’ll give you the full story next week, but before we got there, it was pretty much a head to head race between the Britax and the Micralite, with BOB trailing pretty far behind.

I like the Micralite, under 15lbs and it seems to fold flat. That’s a nice efficient design. The only thing I worry about it whether the hood can suffciently shield the little one from the sun and wind.

BOB’s are the best!. It can go anywhere (ie. snow, trails, sidewalks, parks, markets, running, etc.), it can carry my daughter up to 80lbs (no other jogger/stroller is like this), it has shock absorbers (this really does make a differnce for how comfortably the child rides, especially as they get older), a front swiveling wheel (this is huge for turning easily) and it always rates the highest for quality and durability of its parts above and beyond other joggers like it. Another big bonus is that it is made in boise, ID, so I can feel good about supporting the local economy. The biggest reason I got it though, was that it is the only stroller/ jogger I will ever need to buy, because it meets all my needs. I carried my daughter in a front carrier until she was 6 months, and then we got the BOB. So I had to put in my two cents, because I think when it comes to a stroller, function is far more important than how cool you think you look to the other moms/ dads at the park!

It took the BOB to de-lurk me!

I was so disappointed to see the BOB trailing behind your other two choices! We bought two really inexpensive and very mainstream strollers when my son was born (I don’t know what we were thinking). When we found out we’d be moving from a large house with plenty of storage to an urban apartment I decided we needed on really good stroller that met all our needs. My husband wanted to run with it and I needed a front wheel that swiveled so I could move easily through tight city spaces. After much research we bought the BOB. We couldn’t be happier! My husband takes our 2 year old off-roading and he hardly feels a bump because of the shocks. Our regular stroller would threaten to tip if you got too close to the edge of the sidewalk and hit the grass. He loves the swivel or locked wheel option. BOB can turn in it’s own footprint, I have people comment that they have never seen a stroller maneuver so well. I can push and steer it with one hand. You can buy a bar if you really want to use it with an infant car seat, and I do recommend getting the cup holder. Ours has traveled with us from Michigan to D.C., Chicago, San Diego, & Seattle and has been amazing! We are having our second child in July and plan to use it for her as well. Oh, and the hood! The hood is great, our son pulls it down and can shut out the wind and sun. He never fell asleep in a stroller until we got the BOB. We can also take walks in the rain and the only thing that gets wet are his toes. I think it is the best looking stroller in my walking group. Sorry to ramble on, but I cannot say enough good things about it!

I agree - I love the BOB. I don’t have one, in fact, I don’t even own a stroller….but a friend of mine has one and I borrow it once in awhile. Awesome, smooth ride, easy and light to push…..I need one!

From simply a “looks” point of view, I like the Britax out of those three. I’ve never used any of those three so I don’t have any first hand experience, so it’s all based on looks. The Micralite looks a little wimpy and the BOB looks like it’s trying too hard. We own one of the mainstream brand stroller that we love! It’s got everything we need, it looks great and our little lovey has no problem falling asleep in it. We even took her off-road last evening up this rocky trail behind our house and it did great. Just my $.02!

    So…..
Have you had the baby yet or not? I hope all is going well.

We did an extensive search before settling on the phil and ted’s e3. It is a 3 wheeler like the bob. It isnt’ the best jogger in the world (although it gets used as one several times a week). What sold us on it though, was the ability to hold two kids. If you plan to have more than one… it’s worth checking out.
