I think that I have mentioned before that my wife and I are not going to find out the sex of our baby before it’s born. I always thought that the hard part would just be not knowing if I would have a son or a daughter. I now know that the hardest part is shopping for the kid when you don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl. The big things like strollers, cribs, carseats aren’t too hard, but infant clothes have been a nightmare. It seems that no one makes infant size clothes in any color but pink or blue, with the occasional white, yellow or green. What ever happened to the rest of the colors? Thankfully Speesees not only brings fashion to the newborn world, but they also manage to do it with organic cotton manufactured under fair trade practices and principles. The prices may be a little higher than your normal baby clothes, but you are getting so much more. The sweet Pumpkin “Seehors” onesie sells for $24.

Available from Speesees for $24.

Save your money and buy the expensive cute clothes for the bigger sizes (i.e 6-12 months and 12-18 months and I sure the list goes on), they grow so fast the first 9 months. I have found a lot of brighter color boutique clothing at second hand stores, for super good deals. Try the Kid to Kid in Salt Lake, Holladay, and Sandy. You get the benefit of supporting a local business and reusing to boot!

Yeah, I’ll second that. Our little one had so many newborn and 6-month clothes that she never got to wear many of them- she simply grew too quickly.

And $24 for a onsie? nah, no way is that grassroots :)
We had our first one just over a year ago, and watching your site reminds me a lot of where my head was. My wife and I love good modern design, but both have a “strong appreciation for value.” - probably more emphasis on that last part than you have :)

Good call you guys, we were getting desperate striking out at all the bix box baby stores. We’ll have to check out kid to kid.

Also, ebay for lots of clothes in particular sizes. Sometimes trips to the outlets help as well. There are a lot of people out there doing handmade and hand stamped clothing and you can sometimes score deals on clearance. I like Zutanos because they have a lot of very cute gender neutral stuff.

I am an aggressive sale shopper, but you’ll need to know how your kid grows. I was lucky that mine was right on target–6 months at 6 months. I would shop end of season sales to stock up for the next year. I am also particular, like you guys, about what I put on my kid. It can be done, and it can be done inexpensively, it just takes forethought and foreaction.
