Boon Potty Bench

 Pics Boon Potty
If you haven’t already seen the Boon Potty Bench, and you have a little one, its time. I saw this stylish little throne does it all. It comes with sorts of compartments and features that makes potty time a little bit easier. Plus its way more stylish than other options. We’re not sure about the pricing yet, but if their Frog Pod is any indication, it should be super cheap. Another great bonus is that Target is carrying the Boon stuff, so it should be very available to everyone.

cb2 gets outdoors

20Mar06

Cb2OutdoorEven with it snowing here in the west I can’t stop myself from thinking that spring is just around the corner. If you are lucky enough to have a yard or small deck to hang out on, then you most likely have noticed that there is a definite drought of good affordable outdoor modern furniture. Sure Modern Outdoor has great stuff, but who can afford it. This morning I got an email from CB2 announcing their new collection of outdoor furniture. While I am not a huge fan of butterfly chairs, at $39 it sure beats a plastic chair. The side table, made of painted steel, is also nice for $29. Perhaps the coolest though are their modern planters that run from $14 - $24. Pics after the jump.

Available from CB2 $6 - $39.

Minerva Orduno

17Mar06

MinervaordunoLately I’ve been featuring a lot of stuff from Etsy. Besides just being a great technology based website, Etsy has a lot of other things going for them. In fact, I think that we here at GRM share a common goal with them. Supporting the artist and makers at a grassroots level. By taking out the middle man, prices are down and creativity is up.
This weeks Etsy find is Minerva Orduno, an architect-in-training, interior designer, budding photographer and jeweler. Minerva has a good eye and has some great prints on sale for a good price. $15 gets you a high quality print and the satisfaction of knowing you are helping someone live their dream.

FluffyCo Eyeglass Cases

16Mar06

Img Assets Shop 911A while back I got an email from Jessica that went a little something like this:

Can you please focus on eco vegan products as well? There is such a huge market of people who want it all,

good for the eye,
good for the wallet,
good for the planet,
and good for the animals.

It can be done if enough people ask for it…
matt&nat or via vegan is a good example…

Hopefully Jessica knows about OTSU, a San Francisco based store that carries all sorts of vegan goods. I was perusing through their online store, and found all sorts of good stuff, like these Eyeglass Cases by FluffyCo. Handscreened vinyl and great graphics mixed with the knowledge that it hold up to even a hardcore vegans standards makes these inexpensive cases a great find.

FluffyCo Eyeglass Case available here for $16.

It seems like the small scale print shops are getting more and more attention these days. And for good reason, they have the goods. In fact, I came across my Christmas cards from Potion Brand the other day, and was thinking I needed to start looking for more small shops. Luckily for me I stumbled across Sesame Letterpress. Sesame Letterpress is a Brooklyn based husband wife team that dedicates their time to making the printed world a little bit better. They make all sorts of goodies, from drink coasters to gift tags (shown above), all off which show a great attention to detail and nice original designs. Oh and of course, they are affordable.

Available at Greenergrassdesign and Elsewares. Prices vary.

Lime green ceramics

14Mar06

Sprouthome 1887 7654684I came across this lime green ceramic bowl over at Sprout Home the other day, and I thought I should share. Having plants in your home can really add to the atmosphere, and turn a house into a home. Of course, any good plant deserves a good home of its own. So if you have a special plant at home yearning for a new pot, this could be your chance.
The oblong shape of this pot almost makes me think that it would look with a modern bonsai set up in it. Keep it simple to show off the lines, and let the greens play off of each other. If you don’t have a green thumb in your body, at least it could be a sweet cereal bowl.

Available from Sprout Home for $16

Garlic Crusher

13Mar06

Wcsstore Momatest Images L 59426If you are a fan of garlic like my wife and I are, you will love this garlic crusher from the MoMA Store. Designed by Inkeke Hans in 2005, this little kitchen wonder is just the tool to pulverize those little cloves of goodness. Perhaps one of the best features of this garlic crusher is the fact that it is made of 18/0 stainless steel, which means that you can use it to get that garlic smell off of your hands. After crushing just wash your hands with the crusher and the stainless steel takes all the smell out of your hands.

The garlic crusher is available at the MoMA Store for $16.

I love eames

Orangeenamel
It always warms my heart to see someone who loves Charles and Ray Eames as much as I do. Seattle based Orange Peel Enamel makes wonderful enamel pendants, all of them super hip modern designs. My favorite of course is this ode to the Eames’ called “I love Eames”. Each pendant is made individually by hand, and fired at 1500 degrees. The detail and design of the pieces are truly top notch, and the prices very reasonable $25. A web site is in the works, until then check them out at etsy.

Designed by Swedish designer Lotta Helleberg, each pillow uses a real leaf for the hand printing process making each piece wonderfully unique. The woodland fern pillow shown to the right is currently on sale over at Elsewares for $52. Make sure you check out the rest of the Inleaf collection too.

gDiapers

08Mar06

Mama

I have a sister who is in a family way, so I am always looking out for baby goods for her. gDiapers look like a great little system for the eco conscious parent looking for an alternative to cloth diapers. The fashionable outer covers are reusable, and the inner absorbent center is completely flushable. So what is the flushable center made of you ask? Tree farmed fluff pulp of course. So rest assured just because it is easier on you doesn’t mean its bad for the environment. Available in 4 fashionable colors, including our favorite grassroots green. Pricing seems very reasonable (although I admit I am no diaper pricing expert).

Check out the gDiaper website for pricing and tons of other info for the sceptical.
