Kmart = Affordable Modern Contemporary?
Ok, so maybe Ikea doesn’t have anything to be scared of yet, but for those of us that are a days drive from the nearest Ikea, its a start. It seems that Kmart has a couple of new products that have a fairly nice design. The Mali Flex Futon unfortunately is only available online, but it looks fairly nice. It has adjustable “wings” that can transform it from a couch to a sleeper, and is only $199. I am not sure how good the quality is, but with a weight limit of 300 lbs it can’t be too great. Perhaps the better find is their new Metal and Glass table and chairs. They have a nice modern look to them, and are available online or at select stores for $129 for the set. If anyone actually gets a chance to sit in these make sure you let us know about the quality.

The couch is a no go. 300 lbs? Two average adults, or if you have a large friend come over and start to sit down beside you, you’ll need to bounce up to save both of you some embarrassment. Or most likely, provide more embarrassment to the one left on the couch.
I know, I’ve been there. I’ve had to hold my breath while a friend sat in a new puff chair.
well look out for the expensive futons too – i just found out ore international (some real nice looking, very multifunctional sofa and loveseat futons) have a weight limit of a miniscule 250lbs! And the prices are 700+!!! How’s that for absurd! Who are they making them for? The folks in Japan and Korea? Not your average european or american obviously. Or at least not 2 of them at a time! On a sofa!! Amazing.
